The end of Twitter and the arrival of X

December 20, 2023

Elon Musk, the multi-faceted entrepreneur who acquired Twitter a few months ago, is determined to completely reinvent the platform. In a revelation last weekend, on July 22, 2023, the CEO announced that Twitter's iconic bluebird logo would be relegated to the past.

"Soon we'll be saying goodbye to the Twitter brand and, gradually, to all the birds," said Elon Musk.

“Bientôt, nous dirons adieu à la marque Twitter et, progressivement, à tous les oiseaux. » a déclaré Elon Musk.

Barely decided, already adopted. The platform's official account was quickly renamed "X" and sports a new logo. It only took a few hours for the blue bird to be replaced on the social network's home page too. In the top left-hand corner of the site, users will now find an "X".

The blue bird is no longer visible on the Twitter site. For the time being, however, the animal is still very much present on the application's logo.

Since the arrival of Elon Musk, Twitter has undergone a number of changes, including massive layoffs, a flight of advertisers and the rollout of the Twitter Blue subscription offer.

In San Francisco, a huge X was projected onto the facade of the company's headquarters. This is the first phase of Elon Musk's plan to create his "all-purpose" application.

Elon Musk's vision: X, the do-it-all app

"X" is an integral part of Elon Musk's life. The letter can be found in SpaceX, in the name of Tesla's top-of-the-range SUV, the Model X. It's even present in the name of one of his children.

Elon Musk's philosophy for Twitter seems to be centered around "X". The aim is to make Twitter an all-in-one application, bringing together several different services.

With X, Elon Musk intends to create an "all-in-one" application, designed to rival WeChat. This Chinese must-have application brings together text messaging, voice messaging, social networking, video conferencing, video games, mobile payment, photo and video sharing and location sharing. It is used by billions of Chinese, as it brings together everything Internet users need on a daily basis.

The arrival of X clearly marks a major turning point for Meta and all Twitter users. The transformation of the social network into an "everything" application demonstrates Elon Musk's ambition, and by combining a variety of functionalities under one roof, the businessman is seeking to redefine the identity and use of Twitter.
